^came across this today, felt like it needed to be shared.

Claude Debussy wrote Clair de lune at age 26.
Watch Tokyo Sonata immediately.
why am I listening to Grizzly Bear,
at 2:49 a.m.?
(why did I just lose a wc3 ffa, despite my solid ne build?)
I recently finished Heart of Darkness (which is the basis for Apocalypse Now, surprise, surprise) and now I’m working my way through Thus Spoke Zarathustra and some Dostoevsky stories/novellas.
I think it’s time for more Haruki Murakami..
maybe I’ll start Sputnik Sweetheart this week.
I’m considering reading that, as well as Norwegian Wood and After Dark, in the next month and a week or so.
That’s not long.
At all.
anticipation is killer.
Good morning. Here I am, sitting in my living room, attempting to study for my CCNA1 exam (640-822). The breakfast is Pop Tarts and coffee. What a combo, no? I purchased a MacBook Pro last week (can you say 2.93 ghz Intel dual-core?), so I’ve spent the past few days figuring out the intricacies of OS X.
^ironically enough, I’m dual-booting in XP at the moment.
I still haven’t bought a mouse yet. Somehow, I don’t think a touch pad is going to cut it for Starcraft, Warcraft 3, Counter-Strike: Source, etc.
I’m thinking: http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-mice/razer-salmosa/
and I’m going to throw in the mini version of this http://www.steelseries.com/int/products/surfaces/qck/information just for kicks.
Can’t wait for Starcraft II.
This morning, I woke up at 10ish, half-starving/dehydrated (since I wasn’t allowed to eat or drink since midnight). At 10:30, I headed out to the oral surgeon’s office to get 3 wisdom teeth removed (two lower, one upper). After a 20-30 minute wait, I walked back to the office, sat down, turned my ipod on, and inhaled laughing gas for around 10 minutes straight.
I can’t think of too many things that compare to going under anesthesia while listening to the latest This Town Needs Guns album (Animals).
It was pretty insane.
It took a while to kick in though, I guess, because the surgeon kept asking me personal questions (i.e. Where do you want to go to school?, Do you have any younger brothers/sisters?, How old are they?, etc.). Eventually, a nurse just stuck an IV in my arm (which I assume was filled with Vicodin or Valium), and after feeling the fluid get injected twice, I was out cold. The next thing I knew, I was on the way home. I won’t be able to chew solid food for a day or two, but besides that, everything’s great. There’s hardly any pain (probably thanks to the Percocet), and I feel amazing.
If you haven’t gotten your wisdom teeth out yet, or you are going to sometime soon, don’t sweat it. It’s absolutely nothing to worry about, I promise.
On a completely unrelated note, I finished a great book, Being There, last night. It’s definitely worth checking out, and it’s a very quick, thought-provoking read.
That’s about it for now. I think I’ll go give Sung Tongs a listen.
I was just reading some stuff on http://fromgaza. blogspot. com/, and it got me thinking. I did a bit of research on U.S. – Israel relations.
“About 1,300 Palestinians, at least 700 of them civilians, were killed during the 22-day offensive, while Israel put its death toll at 10 soldiers and three civilians. “

“17% of all U.S. foreign aid is earmarked for Israel. In fact, Israel is so devoted to U.S. military hardware that it has the world’s largest fleet of F-16s outside the U.S., currently possessing more than 200 jets. Another 102 F-16s are on order from Lockheed Martin. Israel is one of the United State’s largest arms importers. In the last decade, the United States has sold Israel $7.2 billion in weaponry and military equipment.
The U.S. also gives Israel weapons and ammunition as part of the Excess Defense Articles (EDA) program, providing these articles completely free of charge. Between 1994-2001 the U.S. provided many weapons through this program, including:
* 64,744 M-16A1 rifles
* 2,469 M-204 grenade launchers
* 1,500 M-2 . 50 caliber machine guns
* .30 caliber, . 50 caliber, and 20mm ammunition”

I don’t like that the American media portrays the U.S. as innocent bystanders. I’m not taking sides, but there has to be a better solution than murdering schoolchildren…
